We live in a world today that is changing with every blink of an eye. It is developing at a fast pace. The developing technology has made us witness what 3-dimensional movie means. Now, this world of 3 dimensions is not only there in movies but also in other sectors as well. Printing is one of the sectors where 3-dimensional printing is in great use.
The birth of new printers has marked a totally new level of printing using various kind of materials. At present days, materials used in 3d printing includes food, concrete, metal, organic materials, composites, plastics, papers and what not.
Different materials used in 3d printing
Powder – Today, the powder is used in the field of printing. The powder in the first place is melted. The next thing is pouring that melted powder in layers so that the proper texture, thickness, and pattern can be gained. The powders that are mainly in use are polyamide (also known as nylon) and alumide.
Stainless metals – Some of the materials used in 3d printing which are originally metals and are commonly in use, gold, nickel, steel, bronze, aluminum, titanium, etc. These metals undergo the process of direct printing. This process is done by metal dust binding. Then the entire thing is hardened by firing which can again be done directly.
Plastics – The most common material that is used in three-dimensional printing is plastic. It is the friendliest material as considered by its users.
Nitinol – This material is an alloy of titanium and nickel. It is mainly used in products that are specifically for medical use. So, you can imagine the improvement in technology which has led to 3d printing on medical products as well and this has been possible only because of nitinol.
Resins – The only material that has a minimum usage. It is so because of the limited production or seasonal production. The main content of it is polymer but in the state of liquid. These materials are weaker as compared to other 3d printing materials. It is also less flexible. This is a material which is available in various categories, which are, paintable resin, transparent resin, and high-detail resin.
Paper – Yes! Paper. It can be 3d printed too. With the help of a machine these papers can be glued, trimmed and colored.
These are some of the 3d printing materials which are of great use and advantageous too. This 3-dimensional printing helps to enhance a look from boring to something interesting.
